Svalbard is to my knowledge the northernmost you as an ordinary person can buy a ticket. On Svalbard, you are significantly further north than you are in Qaanaaq (Thule) in Greenland, Canada and Russia, few areas so far north, and no cities with hotels and restaurants.
The ship, Polar Star was when the train starts to nest in Adventfjorden out of Longyearbyen. There was no quay and only one fixed place, where seven ships on the trip got water supplies and oil. Our first impressions of the trip was so lifejackets and inflatable boat.
