Recently on programming the teacher asked us to do an envelope with stars. I mean, were created out of them such strings: rectangle, and the two intersecting lines. You can do it without GotoXY, in a very simple way, nesting in a two loops. First, you write the same star as the first horizontal line. Next, using two loops, you write an asterisk if you are in the first column, last column, or when the line number is the same as the column number (starting from the second row and ending with the penultimate). At the end you write the last one horizontal line.
