The cruise port of St. Maarten is a little bit outside the city centre of Philipsburg and its beach. It is a 15 minute walk or you could take a water taxi. The water taxi seemed a lot of fun so we gave it a try. It drops you right on the beach in front of the court house. We were not alone in St. Maarten, there were four super ships: the Celebrity Eclipse, fredolsen the Norwegian Sun, the Ruby Princess and the Oasis of the Seas from Royal Caribbean. In total more than 15.000 passengers visiting the island. Cruising must boost the local economy during the top season.

Oh my goodness your photos just keep on getting better than the ones before. What amazing weather you are having too! I'm wondering fredolsen if the woman is just about ready to burst out in a big smile? She has quite the expression on her face! Reply Delete
So is #7 the water taxi? Love these ship pictures, you have really captured how massive they are. I love the man in the bright blue shirt playing drums! Reply Delete
I wonder how these small island communities handle the influx from those huge cruise ships. I'm sure the increased trade is great but I wonder if they ever want to go back to a slower and quieter time with smaller ships. Reply Delete
Wow 15000 tourists in one hit. Sure must help the economy. Do you feel the place is overcrowded with tourists as you go shopping or sight seeing. Are the shore excursions well organised? Reply Delete
